Jose N. Alvarez

Chief Technology Officer

Jose Alvarez is Chief Technology Officer for Merrick Systems, a leading provider of IT solutions for the energy industry. Mr. Alvarez joined Merrick Systems in January 2006, and is the architect of the One Virtual Source (OVS) product, Merrick's next-generation solution for the digital oilfield. He has worked in the energy industry since 1979, and brings a wealth of experience in both technical software development and domain expertise. The majority of his career has been focused on delivering innovative software solutions for production engineering, where he is recognized as a leading expert in the field. Prior to joining Merrick, he previously served as Executive Vice President for OGCI Software, where he was responsible for the creation of two market-leading engineering applications, first the Production Analyst (PA) and later Oil Field Manager (OFM). After OGCI was acquired by Schlumberger in 1996, he then served as Manager of Production Solution Implementations and later Manager of Production Applications, where he was responsible for the creation of FieldViz, FieldBA, and other associated applications.

Mr Alvarez has a background in Chemical Engineering, with a B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh, along with continuing education courses in Petroleum Engineering and Computer Science. He is a member of SPE.
